In September 2025, Bolon, together with OKO and BATTER by Sibille, took part in Zurich Design Weeks, presenting the new Riff collection. The flooring design made an impact as part of a spatial installation. Architecture, material, and atmosphere came together in an exciting composition.
The Takeover
At the heart of the installation was an exclusive preview of the new flooring design, which subtly transformed the café’s character and initiated a dialogue between materiality and atmosphere.
Two of the collection’s sixteen designs were showcased: Blackish Red and Naturelle Red. Installed in a checkerboard pattern, they created a dynamic tension between depth and lightness. The dark red of Blackish Red – reminiscent of glowing lava – grounded the space, while Naturelle Red, with its lighter, warmer tone, brought a gentle warmth.
In the background, a flowing inlay of Love from the Artisan collection completed the picture. It echoed the organic shape of the café’s striking mirrored bar, subtly connecting the flooring pattern to the architecture. The Zurich food label BATTER by Sibille enhanced the experience with a specially created signature drink and dish.
The Event
The immersive installation was unveiled during the opening cocktail, when architects, interior designers, and design enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the collaboration. Catering by BATTER by Sibille was served directly on the installation, becoming part of it, a conscious interplay of design and gastronomy, where architecture, material, and taste merged into a single sensory experience.
Conclusion
With this takeover, Bolon once again emphasises its ambition to make design a holistic experience, through space, culinary art, and atmosphere.
