Bolon is proud to supply flooring for the expansion of Electrolux Group’s headquarters in Stockholm, a project that sets a clear benchmark for sustainable architecture.
The expansion is the first construction phase in the development of the neighbourhood Greenhouse Sthlm and includes an 8,500 sqm office extension of the headquarters, as well as new homes (Brf Gourmet), shared spaces and public areas. For the new office space, Bolon has supplied around 3,000 sqm of acoustic flooring in 50x50 tiles, including Silence Visual and Emerge Drift. The floors combine durability with a textile feel, while also contributing to meeting the acoustic requirements. The floors are made in Sweden and with 100% recycled or bio-sourced PVC.
Sustainability is a key focus throughout. The building is mainly constructed in wood and is certified under BREEAM Outstanding and NollCO2. Solar panels, green roofs and circular solutions further strengthen the environmental performance. The carbon footprint for the extension is 57% (A1-A5) lower compared to standard construction (“NollCO2”).
"We have worked with Bolon for many years and have closely followed their sustainability efforts and drive to reduce the climate impact of their products. We are very pleased with our collaboration. One of the challenges in the project has been to create the feeling of “one office” – and to blur the line between the original building and the newly added premises.
Here, the choice of carpet has contributed in a very positive way. Additionally, Bolon offers a recycling mindset that is important to us, and we were actually one of the pilots in their Back2Bolon program." says Ulrika Kågström, Head of Property Development at Electrolux Group.
Bolon is delighted to contribute to a project that prioritizes sustainability and long-term quality. It reflects a shared ambition to create interiors that perform over time and support responsible material choices. The tile installation method is an important part of this approach, as it creates conditions that make it easier to replace, reuse, and ultimately send back carpets that have reached the end of their life, which then go back into Bolon's production process to create new carpets – a circular solution that really works.
Through our Back2Bolon program, used flooring can be returned to our factory and transformed into new products, supporting a circular mindset where nothing is wasted.
