Bolon during Berlin Art Week: Two Locations, two different contexts

In September, Bolon was present at two locations across the city during Berlin Art Week: as part of the group exhibition The Overview Effect at THE FOUNDRY by Bocci and with a presentation at our own Berlin showroom. Two different settings offered two different perspectives on material, design and craftsmanship – from a site-specific installation by Meyers & Fügmann to a fragment of RIQUADRO, our collaboration with Martino Gamper.

THE OVERVIEW EFFECT I THE FOUNDRY BY BOCCI

From 5–13 September, Bolon was part of The Overview Effect, a group exhibition curated by Anna Carnick at THE FOUNDRY by Bocci.

The exhibition took its title from the “Overview Effect” – the shift in perspective astronauts describe when seeing Earth from space. Bringing together international designers and artists, the exhibition explored ideas of interconnectedness, materiality and the way we perceive the world around us.

For the exhibition, Berlin-based design duo Meyers & Fügmann created The Global Mélange: Interwoven Latitudes, a work commissioned by Bolon.

Using Bolon materials, including raw material and offcuts from our production, the designers created a large-scale textile installation. Meyers & Fügmann took the material out of its familiar context and translated it into a new form – a layered composition connecting material, craftsmanship and different places.

The work was presented alongside Bolon flooring, bringing together two very different expressions of the same material: as a functional architectural surface and as the starting point for an artistic exploration.

RIQUADRO BY MARTINO GAMPER | CURRENTS.BERLIN

From 10–12 September, we presented a fragment of RIQUADRO by Martino Gamper as part of Currents.Berlin. The exhibition was first presented during Milan Design Week 2026. For RIQUADRO, Martino Gamper explored Bolon flooring beyond its conventional application. Colour, pattern and composition became design tools, turning the floor itself into an active element within the space.

Two works from the Milan presentation made their way to Berlin, where they were presented in a new context at our showroom on Linienstrasse.
