Nanboya UK, London

Our flooring was selected by OTO, a London-based, design-led architecture and interior practice, which was founded by Tamiko Onazawa. The practice takes a considered, bespoke approach to each project and works with both traditional and innovative materials and techniques, playing with their juxtaposition.

OTO was briefed by the client, Valuence International, a pre-owned luxury goods trader headquartered in Japan, but opening its first European office, Nanboya UK, in Mayfair. The client wanted to imbue its new office with Japanese culture, expertise and hospitality.

Taking inspiration from Japan’s rich cultural heritage and characteristics, including pattern and craft, but also Japanese behaviour and customs, OTO aimed to express these in an abstract manner using the latest innovative technologies and materials.

Large screens inspired by the Japanese traditional woodcraft, ‘Kumiko,’  were created using compressed bamboo and laser effects, whilst rhombus-shaped Bolon flooring was selected to create a geometrical pattern with a 3D effect that resonated with the ‘Kumiko’ screens.

OTO has chosen our flooring for a number of its projects, citing its beauty, durability and uniqueness. We were especially pleased that it was chosen for Nanboya UK, a company that encourages sustainability in the luxury goods sector.
