Javri Lodge Nominated for ‘Wood Building of The Year’

Through its wooden design, the Finnish log cabin Javri Lodge has been nominated for the ‘Wood Building of the Year’ award by Finnish Timber Council.

JAVRI LODGE – A LAVISH, LAPPISH NATURE RETREAT

Located in Saariselkä, 260 km north of the Arctic Circle in the region of Finnish Lapland, Javri Lodge claims to be the northernmost hotel in the world. It’s a wooden chalet style boutique hotel which attracts visitors who are seeking an escape from a hectic life, often craving an opportunity to experience an intimate connection with nature – while simultaneously staying in a hotel which reflects their ecological and sustainable values.

NATURE-INSPIRED, SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Javri Lodge is partly made of Kelohirsi – a wooden material characteristic of its strong nature-inspired aesthetics. Javri’s wooden frame structure along with the sustainable customized Bolon flooring with a Silence pattern contributes to a high indoor air quality and good acoustics while simultaneously providing a sustainable approach to design.

NOMINATED THE WOOD BUILDING OF THE YEAR

Seeking to promote the use of wood in construction and interior design, every year the non-profit Finnish Timber Council recognizes wooden buildings of the year to raise international awareness of Finnish design and wood working industries. This year, Javri Lodge is one of 20 nominated buildings.
