During Stockholm Design Week Bolon launched our new collection "Silence". The artfilm The Contradication of Silence by choreograper Alexander Ekman was presented in a setting by Beckmans College of Design in the centre of Stockholm. An inspiring room filled with moving images, pop-up sculptures and striking floor installations. The Show(room) by Bolon, our exhibition at Snickarbacken 7, was made in close collaboration with Beckmans College of Design. Inspired by our new flooring collection Silence and the artfilm The Contradiction of Silence by choreographer Alexander Ekman, the student designed a site-specific and artistic setting for the visitors to enter. Two-dimensional became three-dimensional in this fairy-tale of flooring. The Contradiction of Silence was screened over a big wall and the hypnotic soundtrack enlarged the room.
The Show(room) by Bolon was the place to be during Stockholm Design Week. Apart from the exhibition, Bolon also hosted two events at the site, the yearly exclusive dinner and a sparkling party. As a tradition, Bolon always hosts a special dinner on one of the evening. A small group of Bolon friends come to the exhibition on Monday night to eat and drink together. Stefano Catenacci, acclaimed Swedish chef with Royal experience, served a spectacular dinner and the band Amason played for the guests.
Tuesday evening was more of a party night. Over 370 guests came to the exhibition to mingle and enjoy drinks, finger food and music. Amason was on stage, this evening too. It was a warm and friendly event that kept the cold and damp weather far away.
In Bolon’s latest expression of our commitment to collaborate with exciting, new creative talents, we have joined forces with Swedish fashion house and recent winners of Elle Designer of the Year Award 2014, AltewaiSaome. Bolon was on the catwalk at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2014 in Stockholm January 29th with special flooring designed by AltewaiSaome. As an addition, AltewaiSaome created four handmade garments out of the bold and expressive pattern, showed in an exclusive event for fashion press during Stockholm Design Week. We were amazed. We love to be surprised, to see our material develop in new and creative directions.
Even though Bolon did not attend the fair with a stand, our flooring was most certainly present at the fairgrounds. Among others in the stands of Ateljé Lyktan, Blå Station, Fontana Arte, BENE, Summit and Okidoki.
